about ToucanSummary of past activities - 1999 Toucan was chosen to run one of the 68 Millennium Volunteers projects across the country, with our project covering the whole of Greater Manchester. We launched GMY Net, a website offering the opportunity for the 10 Greater Manchester local authority youth services to involve their young people in the development of a web site. Toucan became a centre for the BBC Webwise Campaign, helping people learn
how to use the Internet. We attended Employment Week in Brussels, Youth Work Week at Manchester Town Hall and a transnational conference in Albacete, Spain for the Telework and Tele-information Project. We hosted a conference on 'Employment and Training' and used the conference for the official launch of Greater Manchester Youth Network - a regional support structure for voluntary youth organisations. |
