about ToucanSummary of past activities - 2002 Our ICT training room was upgraded with new equipment through the 'Community Access to Lifelong Learning' initiative; over the summer we offered free ICT training for young people from groups taking part in the Summer Plus Scheme. Toucan started a new ICT training project, Licence to Skill, funded by the LSC, offered free training to voluntary organisations in Greater Manchester. Three Toucan project workers were successful in completing their European Computer Driving Licence and two project workers and one of our IT trainers completed City & Guilds Level 1 Certificate in Teaching Adult Learners. We ran the Observatory project, a series of meetings to bring together people working on Manchester Youth College projects. The Eden Development Partnership Agreement was finalised. We attended the start up meetings of two projects, Untraditional Partner Formations and FIVE Stars, both held in Malmo, Sweden and, along with some of the partners on the Eden project, attended a TIE3 conference in Stockholm, where the TIE3 website was launched. Nine young people on the Millennium Volunteers project travelled to Italy to take part in an exchange between Italy, Greece, Poland and UK. Three new websites were launched; Enterprise4u, a website that was part of an extension to Toucan's Social Entrepreneurship Project, www.connexions-mmu.org.uk, a site that we helped to develop aimed at supporting people studying Connexions courses through Manchester Metropolitan University and VYSIOn, a website promoting voluntary youth activity in Greater Manchester and acting as an interactive information point for young people. The Millennium Volunteers website was re-designed. As part of World Mental Health Week, GMYnetwork held a training day to help those working with young people address the issue of attitudes to mental health. Everyone's a Winner, an entrepreneurship curriculum, developed by Melanie Windle Associates and Toucan was launched at the Entrpreneurship Education Forum in North Carolina, USA. We attended Employment Week 2002 in Brussels and a Youth Programme Action 5 contact making seminar in Barcelona, Spain. |
