about ToucanSummary of past activities - 2005 The ECUBE partners travelled to Lyon, France for another series of transnational meetings in the Motivation to Employment partnership and the first meeting of a new Socrates Grundtvig project, RAVT (Real and Virtual Textures), was held in Palermo. A new project funded by Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities started, called 'Forward to Basics', which aimed to help people in Ardwick improve their basic skills and employability. Toucan were successful in securing a second years funding for the Grundtvig Learning Partnership 'Barriers to Employment' project and secured funding for the 'Women in Enterprise' project in partnership with Association for Union and Solidarity of Women in Ankara, Turkey. Toucan secured funding from the Big Lottery in partnership with Manchester Libraries and Manchester Adult Education Service to deliver 'Visions for the Future', a project aimed at visually impaired people. The EDEN DP held a conference on Innovation in Greater Manchester. The purpose of the conference was to disemminate the lessons learned and good practice from EDEN projects. Toucan attended Brussels Employment Week along with three of the ECUBE project partners who were also in Brussels to meet with a number of similar organisations with the aim of making connections between the UK and Belgium. The first meeting of the Motivation to Employment partnership (part of the ECUBE project's transnational work) was held in Prague and Toucan became national coordinators of the European Governance Network. The 'e-ability' project started, bringing together partners from Spain, Italy, Latvia, Estonia and UK to look at access to e-learning for people with disabilities. The 'Again-ST Abandon' project reached an exciting stage with the views of young people being collected on why they drop out of school. |
