lifelong learning
ECUBE
ECUBE was designed to meet the needs of a growing economy that is characterised by large pockets of deprivation and groups that are unengaged in lifelong learning and thus unequipped to take part in employment. It has tested innovative cross-agency delivery to engage and empower those sections of the community that suffer severe disadvantages.
ECUBE addressed the objectives of Equal and Theme E in particular (lifelong learning and inclusive working practices), in that it aimed to extend access to lifelong learning and thus improve skills, confidence and employability to non-traditional learners and those with low qualifications who face multiple barriers. ECUBE has developed its partnership and its links with key sub-regional, regional and national networks; it has become a flexible and accessible testbed for innovation in lifelong learning outside normal service delivery vehicles.
There are 13 partners in the ECUBE DP who tested innovative approaches to engaging hard-to-reach groups.
ECUBE has been disseminating the success of the partnership with a long-term goal of mainstreaming its products and services. Products from the ECUBE partnership will be available on Equal’s online resource site. www.equalworks.co.uk
