web design

We currently offer 3 accredited courses that cover web design - eDCC Web Design Beginner and Web Design Intermediate and NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Telematics that includes a unit on web design. We can also offer training for Macromedia Dreamweaver or develop a bespoke course to fit your needs.

We have in the past delivered a web design course as part of our teleCem project, teaching people to set up a website to promote their business or product. This course looked at the theory behind having a website as well as the technicalities of developing a site. The sites created by the teleCem beneficiaries can be viewed through the portal, www.enterprise4u.org.uk

A presence on the World Wide Web is very important and Toucan believe that it is essential to empower people to take a real interest in their own websites rather than have a site designed by someone they might never meet face to face. Toucan have worked with several groups to facilitate the design of a website for their organisation, involving them from the beginning with generating ideas, through the design stage and eventually to a point where, if they want to, they can take over the maintenance of the site.

www.rd4u.org.uk, a website for bereaved young people, was developed on behalf of Cruse Bereavement Care's Youth Involvement Project. Toucan worked with a group of 15 and 16 year olds once a week for 12 weeks to develop a site entirely from the ideas of the young people. The majority of content of the site is made from material that is sent in by its users - there are over 5000 people using the site each month (March 2004). The site was handed over to Cruse in April 2004.

www.tameside4u.info, was developed for Tameside Children's Fund. Toucan worked with a group of 10 and 11 year olds to develop the site for children living in Tameside. The children decided on the layout and design of the site and produced graphics and content for the site. Toucan developed the site and then handed it over to the Children's Fund with a training session on updating the site using Dreamweaver.
